Springfield

Virginia Lee Cox, born on March 19, 1931, in Independence, Missouri, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 6, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri. Throughout her life, Virginia embraced the roles that defined her existence with unwavering dedication, becoming a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her character resonates with memories of a nurturing spirit, who was always about family.

Revered by many, Virginia was more than just a homemaker; she created a home filled with warmth, comfort, and love. She was always kind and willing to help others when in need and her devotion to her family was unparalleled. She rarely missed any activity that her two sons participated in and celebrated each moment spent with her children and grandchildren.

In her younger years she had a passion for bowling, competing in state tournaments and she enjoyed listening to music, especially songs by Engelbert Humperdinck. Additionally, she found pleasure in watching baseball, initially the Kansas City Blues, then the Kansas City Athletics and recently the Kansas City Royals.

Virginia is survived by her loving son, Terry Cox; grandchildren— Sarah Nicolaus, Andrew Cox, Tyler Cox, Shannon Snyder, and Connor Cox; and great-grandchildren— Zeke, Lydia, Naomi, Braden, Brantley, Melia, Gracie, Lexington, and Noah. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Middleton; nephews and niece, Mike Middleton, Tara Price, and Ryan Middleton; and her daughter-in-law, Kay Cox.

Welcoming her into eternal rest are her beloved husband, Marion A. "Bud" Cox; her son, Timothy Cox; her daughter-in-law, Angela Cox; and her dear parents, Ralph and Florence Middleton.

Virginia leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will forever be with her family. A graveside service to honor her life will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence, Missouri.
