Daniel Arthur “Danny” Vogel, the plant whisperer, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, November 26, 2020. He was 72. Danny was born July 19, 1948 to Roy and EmmaJean Vogel in Kansas City, Kansas.
After graduating from Washington High School in 1967 Danny found his place in the automotive industry. He worked as a parts wholesaler at Lee’s Summit Honda for 43 years before retiring in 2017. When Danny wasn’t working he would always be found surrounded by his family. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews as they were growing up, helping them and teaching them any way he could. His life revolved around his daughter and grandchildren. He was blessed to have spent the last several years living with them and being in their presence day after day. Danny would often tell stories and always bring laughter anywhere he went. Rather it was teasing his granddaughters at the dinner table, expressing his passion for the thought of maybe starting a garden one day, camping with his children, making bonfires or fishing, he would always light up the room. He was a simple man, the only things he needed to satisfy his life was family, liver and onions, peanut butter and ice. He was an incredible father, grandfather, uncle and friend and will be missed beyond measure by each and every person he met.
Danny is survived by his daughter Stephanie Putnam (Jeff); granddaughters Kelsie, Fiera, Emilie and Allie; sons, Eric Vogel (Angela), Daniel Forbes (Alicia) and his daughter Erin Columbare; brother, Robert Vogel “Bobby”; niece Vickie Foster (Jeff); nephews, Wayne Vogel (Mistey), Ronny Vogel (Cambree) and Kenny Vogel and many beloved grandchildren, cousins and friends.
He is preceeded in death by his parents; his son, Shawn Vogel; brothers Charles and Roy Vogel; and his favorite companion Willie the monkey.
A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, December 2, 2020 from 10-11:00am followed by burial at Lobb Cemetery.
