In her own words:

My Darlings, thank you, thank you, thank you for a wonderful life. To Terri Volkmar and Gina Richison, my daughters: I love you so much. When your Dad, my Jim, left this world, I thought I would die too. You were young and I made many mistakes. I ask your forgiveness for all the misunderstandings and difficult times we had. You have given me five wonderful grandchildren and beautiful great-grandchildren, what more could I ask? I love you without measure.

To Jane, David, Fred and Gene, my dear little sister and brothers: “Dodo” holds you in her heart now even as I held you as babies.

To my dear “little ones”, Danny Mueller and my precious third graders in Effingham, IL: in my nineteen years at Eastside Elementary you made me proud each day and even when we did not agree, I hope you know I always loved you and still do. Please pass that love to your “little ones”.

To my beloved friends: In 1952 when I became a Catholic and at my First Holy Communion the tears rolled and I could not stop. I knew that this Jesus was my Beloved, the spouse of my soul for all eternity. He shaped my life and helped me to face all the fears, sufferings and uncertainties that came my way. Thank you for being with me.

To my dear Little Sisters of the Poor: words cannot say how sharing your home, work and prayers have enriched my life preparing me to meet my Jesus. To my “priceless one”, Sr Connie and all the Sisters of St. Francis, Vallaire, Geri, Bonnie and the Crossroads nurses: these last 33 days have filled me with such joy and peace in the midst of my sufferings. Night and day you were there to hold my hand and pray with me, feed me and bathe me. Thank you My Darlings! See you in Heaven.
-“His Elizabeth”.
