Jacqueline Voris

Jacqueline Carol (Hiatt) Voris, age 69, of Lee’s Summit, MO died October 20, 2013, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, MO. Jackie was born August 2, 1944, to Walter and Evelyn (Ensign) Hiatt in San Diego, CA. She was married 51 years to her high school sweetheart, Paul R. Voris, who survives of the home. She attended school in her hometown of Cameron, MO. Since moving to Lee’s Summit in 1966, Jackie had been very active in the community, especially in her church and the Lee’s Summit school district. She worked in the food services department of the school district for 38 years, where she displayed her extraordinary culinary talents. She was well-known for her melt-in-the-mouth cinnamon rolls. At her church, First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit, she willingly served in many and varied capacities; including cooking and serving dinners, working in the church nursery, and traveling to various states on mission trips. Jackie had a genuine love of life and shared this love with the community with her many acts of kindness to others. Predeceasing Jackie were her parents, Walter and Evelyn Hiatt, brother-in-law Russel Voris, and father-in-law Paul T. Voris. In addition to her husband, Paul, she is survived by two children: Carol Morris and husband Allen of Bolivar, MO., and Dr. David Voris and wife Shawna of Lee’s Summit; three grandchildren: Katie Morris, Jessica Voris, and Zachary Voris, and one great grandson: Liam Morris. Also surviving are her sister, Dorie Flexer and husband Danny of Liberty, MO, and brother, Thomas Hiatt and wife Connie of Pearisburg, VA. Additional survivors are her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy and Warren McElwain of Maysville, MO, mother-in-law Eva Voris of Bolivar, MO, and a host of friends and relatives. Visitation for Jackie Voris will be Thursday evening, October 24, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 at the First Baptist Church, 2 NE Douglas, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063. Funeral services will be held at the church on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., with burial in Reed Cemetery, Halfway, MO, at 2:30 that day. Memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Ministry, First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit.
