Thomas Wade, 82, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007 at Kindred Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, Oct. 16 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Indep., MO; burial to follow at Mount Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 PM, Monday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Tom was born October 21, 1924 in Linnus, MO to Thomas and Merle (Myers) Wade. He married Rose Anne Wernsman on November 24, 1946 and celebrated 52 years together before her passing in October of 1998. Tom worked as a weigh master for ADM Milling in North Kansas City, where he was always know as “Joe,” for 36 years prior to his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed reading everything from the newspaper to dictionaries, hunting, fishing, and just sitting outside and watching the birds while enjoying the weather.
Tom is survived by four children, Thomas L. Wade of Raytown, and Edward L. Wade, Helen Corpening, and Samuel K. Wade, all of Independence; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 expected great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Virginia Foster of Cameron, MO, Annie Stark of Odessa, MO, Bill Wade of Raytown, and Gene Wade of Breckenridge, MO. A “Grand-dad” to all, he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
