Aliena Waggoner, of Independence, Missouri, went to be with the lord on Friday, February 24, 2023. She was 92 years old.
Aliena was born on August 29, 1930 to Cleveland and Mary Bridges in Urbana, Missouri. She attended and graduated from Urbana High School. She met and fell in love with her sweetheart George Merle and they were married on February 10, 1951. From their union came four children: Donald, Debbie, David and Kevin. Everyone who met Aliena immediately fell in love with her. She always wore a smile, she never cursed, and she loved her family fiercely- especially her grandbabies. Aliena spent many summers as a camp host in the Rockies, her second home. She enjoyed to camp, fish crappie, and make music with her family. She was a fine guitarist and was gracious enough to share her gift with those she loved at their family reunions.
Aliena is preceded in death by her parents; Cleveland and Mary, her loving husband; George Merle, her children; Donald, Kevin, and Debbie, and her siblings; Eldon, Elza, Truman, Goldina, and Kristena. She is survived by her son; David, her grandsons; Jaret (Jennifer), Jamie (Jennifer), and Robert, her great grandchildren; DJ, Jacob, Isaac, Anna, Emma, Preston, Aliena, Evan, Gracie, Houston, and Addy, and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will take place at 2pm on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Speaks Suburban Chapel (18020 E 39th St. Independence, MO 64055). A graveside service will occur the following day at 12pm at to Hopewell Baptist Church, near Urbana, Missouri.
