Benson “Benny” Clay Wagoner, age 79, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away with Lisa his daughter by his side, on January 17, 2022 at Research Hospital.
He was born in 1942 to the late Marion and Mary Walker-Wagoner. Preceded in death also were a brother Leland “Bill", and sister, Mary Ann Leathers.
Benny graduated from East High School in 1960. He was a retired Kansas City, MO police officer after 29 years 11 months of service, and retired from Johnson County Community College after 10 years of service as a police dispatcher. Benny’s lifelong love of music led him to DJ numerous venues over three decades. He professed a faith in Christ at an early age while attending Greendale Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO, later becoming a member of Tri-City Baptist Church, followed by membership at New Life Church, and routinely watched Abundant Life Church online. In his life of service he continued on by being an organ donor.
Surviving, with cherished memories are: former wife, Patty Wingler with daughter, Lisa Wagoner ( Mike) and daughter, Ella Pirtle; brother Gerald (Jerry) Wagoner and wife, Cheryl, many special nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.
On Saturday, January 22, 2022, a celebration of life will be held at Carson Speaks Funeral home at 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO 64052. Visitation will be at 9:00 AM, followed by service at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Mount Washington Cemetery in Independence, MO.
