Allen Garth Walker, 84 of Independence, MO passed away Sun. Sep 5, 2004 at the Medical Center of Independence. Services will be 1:00 pm, Fri, Sep 10, 2004 at the Geo. C. Carson & Sons Funeral Home Burial in Floral Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 - 8:30 pm, Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Walker was born on Oct 6, 1919 to Thomas and Katherine in Thompson, MO and had lived in Mexico, MO before moving to the Kansas City/Independence area in 1952. Allen had been a transportation driver at Sheffield/Armco Steel, for 29 years, retiring in 1981. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, servicing on both coast and crossing the equator fourteen times and had served on the USS Florence Nightingale and the USS L.S.T. 559. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #324 and White Avenue United Methodist Church. He loved fishing, rug crafting, woodworking, bowling and camping. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Rubynell Walker on Jan 11, 2004. Allen is survived by a daughter, Janice Kay Walker of Independence, MO. and several nieces and nephews.
