CSM, Retired Joseph Michael Walker, 72 of Independence, MO, passed away, Friday, June 14, 2013 at his residence. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the Fort Osage Church of the Nazarene 19333 US Highway 24 Independence, MO 64056. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. PO Box 374 Birmingham, MI 48012. Mike was born February 8, 1941 in Kansas City, MO to Harry J. and Beulah (Randall) Walker. He was a lithographer for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, horseracing, playing cards, sports and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Animals Best Friends as well as Boy Scouts. He was a highly decorated Command Sargent Major in the US Army Reserves retiring from 561st Corps Support Group. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy of the home; 2 sons, David Walker of Kansas City, MO and Chris Walker and wife Megan of Liberty, MO; 4 siblings, Richard Walker of Lawson, MO, Jim Walker and wife Pat of Jarbalo, KS, Faith Henry and husband Jim of Overland Park, KS and Kenneth Walker and wife Patty of Belle Vista, AR; 3 grandchildren, Kale Montgomery Withers, John Michael Walker and Madison Elaine Walker and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Maxine Chadwick, Mary Willis and Juanita Brunk.
