Lurine Elizabeth Walter, 98, of Independence, MO passed away on April 17, 2005 at her home. A visitation will be held from 10-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Indep., MO. The service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the chapel. The burial will be at Mount Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Independence. Lurine was born on February 20, 1907 in Iola, KS to Homer and Ica Lines. She lived all but the first six months of her life in Kansas City and Independence, MO. She spent over thirty years at the Fairmount Christian Church from the 1930�s to the 1960�s. Since then she has been a member of the First Christian Church, Indep., MO. One of her early hobbies was decorating cakes for other people. She was also a collector of antiques. In retirement, Lurine and her husband John found much enjoyment in taking trips, and traveling to different places. Lurine was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John Claris Walter. She is survived by her son, Doug and wife Susan Walter; grandson, Paul and wife Lisa Walter; and great-granddaughters, Kaitlin and Lindsey Walter.
