Daniel Leroy Walters, 60, of Independence, MO passed peacefully on Monday, May 4th, 2020 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. There will be a small gathering of family and friends at the Mill Creek Community Park in Independence, MO from noon until 3 PM on Saturday, May 16th, 2020.
Dan was born on July 20, 1959 to Charles L. Walters and wife Caroline. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout at age 14, and had a love of the great outdoors for the rest of his life. He was at one time an avid hunter, fisherman and camper. After graduation from high school, Dan enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and became an expert at aviation electronics repair. He earned an honorable discharge after completing his service obligations and returned home to Kansas City, MO.
Dan worked in industrial power generation and industrial maintenance in his civilian life and was known by all as the go-to technical expert in whatever field he found himself working. was active in Boy Scouts and local youth sports for several years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Frances. He is survived by his two children, Daniel and Megan; brother Michael; sisters Tara, Connie, and Trudy; and step father John.
In lieu of flowers and other donations, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society.
