Charles “Howard” Walthall, 82 of Independence, MO passed away Monday, April 4, 2016 at his residence. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m., until service time Friday at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the American Heart Association. Howard was born May 2, 1933 in Thayer, MO to Charles W. and Bertha (Fraley) Walthall. He had worked for over 43 years as a baker for Wonder Bread until he retired in 1995. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading. He is survived by; 2 daughters, Sharon Becker and husband Hugo of Independence, MO and Carol Walker and husband Tom of Kearney, MO; a brother, Dan Walthall of Galena, MO; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by; his wife Duronda Walthall in 2015; a daughter, Karen Lou Walthall in 1972 and 2 sisters, Molly Cantrell and Lillian Williams.
