Wanda Louise King passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, November 3rd, 2024. Wanda was born on October 19, 1937, in Osage County, Kansas to William and Regina Louise (Deskins) Michael.
She attended and graduated from Lyndon High School in the class of 1954.
She married David V. King on July 31st, 1955, and they had four children.
Wanda held various jobs - K-Mart, Venture, Secretary at Mount Washington UMC, and retired from being an Administrative Assistant at Youthfront, a nonprofit faith-based ministry.
She attended Raintree Community Church in Lee’s Summit, MO.
Wanda is remembered for her love of old movies and musicals and especially loved watching them with her kids and grandkids. She was a big Royals fan but especially loved to watch and cheer for the Chiefs!
Wanda was known for cooking big Sunday dinners after church for her family and whoever her kids brought along. She always made way too much just in case! She loved being surrounded by family and friends laughing and telling stories. She was a good sport as her grandkids teased her and told stories about her- she had the great ability to laugh at herself.
Wanda is survived by her son Mike King and wife Vicki, daughter Tammy Heslip, daughter Lea Ann Roach and husband Jamie, daughter Tracy Rainey and husband David, 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: husband, David King, mother, Louise and father, William, sister Shirley Hull, brothers Jack Michael and Daryl Michael, and son-in-law Steve Heslip.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 18 from 4:00-6pm service following at Speaks Funeral Home 39th Street in Independence, Mo. Contributions are suggested to the Youthfront Benevolent Fund. https://youthfront.com/one-time-gift/.
