Louie K. Ward, 88, of Independence, MO passed away December 11, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. service on Thursday, December 17, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Burial will take place at Floral Hills East in Lee’s Summit, MO. Louie was born January 12, 1927 in Choctaw, AR to James D. and Sarah E. (Smith) Ward. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Europe during WWII. He then went on to have a 38 year career as a school teacher and then school administrator, most of which was for the Kansas City School District. He was a member of the East 39th Street Church of Christ. Louie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Christine Ward; and infant son, Ricky Duane Ward. He is survived by his two children, Gary R. Ward of Lee’s Summit, MO and Karen Logan (Ron) of Blue Springs, MO; one grandson, Nathan Logan; and great grandson, Jason Logan.
