Helen Marie Ward, 89 of Chilhowee, MO passed away Saturday, January 28, 2006 at the Country Club Care Center, Warrensburg, MO. Services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at the Chilhowee United Methodist Church, Chilhowee, MO, with the family greeting friends from 10 - 11:00 am prior to the service. Entombment in Carpenter Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 pm, Tuesday, January 31, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Indep, MO. Contributions are suggested to the Chilhowee United Methodist Church, PO Box 191, Chilhowee, MO 64733. Mrs. Ward was born on Aug 9, 1916 to Elver James and Violet Laura (Stever) Pryor in Northview, MO and had lived in Blairstown, MO until moving to Chilhowee in 1975. She then moved to Warrensburg in 2004. Earlier in life she lived in Northview, Collins and Sleeper, MO where she attended Northview grade school and high school, Collins High School and graduated from Blairstown High School in 1935. She was married to Orval L. Ward, March 19, 1937 at Lebanon, MO. Marie along with her husband, Orval, had owned a Dairy Farm near Blairstown and together worked side by side until retiring in 1977. For many years Marie was the Clerk for the Session and an Elder in the Blairstown Presbyterian Church. She had been a member of the Chilhowee United Methodist Church since 1977. She was a member of the Chilhowee Senior Citizens. Marie was a wonderful homemaker and in her later years loved to travel. She enjoyed listening to all kinds of music. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Orval Lafayette Ward in 1984. She is survived by four children, Donna Higgins and husband Rodney of Chilhowee, MO, Carol Belanger and husband Bob of Chino Valley, AZ, Lee Ward and wife Emily of Independence, MO and Earl Ward and wife Jamie of Chilhowee, MO. Eleven grandchildren, Steven Muse, Scott Muse, Mark Higgins, Sharon Higgins Shipley, Jeff Mangan, Troy Mangan, Darrell Mangan, Blaine Ward, Betsy Ward Bain, Christopher Berry and Jessica Berry. Sixteen great grandchildren, Steven, Conner and Shayden Muse, Brad Baker, Drake, Luke, Noa and Max Higgins, Macy, Amanda and Tony Mangan, Stephanie Shipley, Shelby and Jordan Bain, Mason Berry and Emily E. Ward; A sister-in-law, Betty Beaty, Chilhowee and a cousin, Boyd Bumgarner of Ozark, MO. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her only aunt, Jessie Bumgarner, and three sisters-in-law, Forrest Tubbesing, Irene Wehmeyer Pickett and Elva Ruth McIntire.
