John David Warnex, 77, Independence, MO passed away Sept. 2, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 7 pm, Thursday, Sept., 5 at the First Christian Church of Blue Springs, 701 N.W. 15th St., Blue Springs, MO 64015. Visitation will begin at 6 pm before the service at church. Committal service with Full Military Honors will be at 10 am, Friday at the Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the First Christian Church of Blue Springs or The Kansas City Metro Men’s Chorus. John was born Sept. 4, 1935 in Sibley, MO and was a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from Buckner High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a pipefitter for The A.D. Jacobson Company most of his career and was a fifty-year member of Pipefitters Union Local #533. He was very active in his church with a list of credentials too long to mention. He was also active in the community and had served on the Buckner City Council, the Buckner Senior Citizens Housing Board and Town Hall. He served on the Ft. Osage School Board and was a member of the Kansas City Metro Men’s Chorus, a volunteer for the Jackson County Historical Society and a Boy Scout Leader. John loved to travel and enjoyed golfing, woodworking, singing and gardening. John is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years Barbara Warnex, of the home; son Paul Warnex and wife Deb, Liberty, MO; daughter Becky Ritter and husband Cy, Kansas City, MO; sister Mary Jane Cooper, Independence and grandchildren Rachel Ritter, Ross Ritter and David Warnex.
