Wilma Warnock, 82, Independence, MO passed away Jan. 2, 2013. Visitation will be 3-5 pm, Sunday, Jan. 6 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Private committal services will be held at Mound Grove Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Monday, Jan. 7 at Gudgell Park Community of Christ, 500 E. Gudgell, Independence, MO 64055. The family suggests contributions to Outreach International, 129 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64050.
Wilma was born June 4, 1930 in Independence, MO. She earned a B.S. from Park College and had worked for the Mid-Continent Public Library System until her retirement in the early 2000’s. She was a member of the Community of Christ and had attended New Walnut Park Congregation before attending Gudgell Park. She was a great cook who also loved to play piano and write poetry.
Wilma was preceded in death by sisters Mardell Olson and Lilly Beth Hanson. She is survived by daughter Kim Louise Warnock, Independence, MO; son Leonard Julian Warnock, Everett, WA; sister Inis Hitchcock and husband Leonard; grandchildren Natalie Warnock; Brandon Warnock, all of Independence, MO; Ryan Nicholas Warnock, Shoreline, WA; Aaron Michael Warnock; Emily Rachel Warnock, both of Everett, WA; brother-in-law Danny Hanson, Independence, MO and many nieces and nephews.
