Arnold “Red” Watters, 82, of Independence, MO, peacefully passed away Sunday, December 2, 2007 at his home surrounded by his family. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2007 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m. Burial with full military honors in Forest Hill Cemetery. Arnold was born May 12, 1925 in Jasper, AR to Rufus and Betty (Garner) Waters. Red had been a sheet metal worker with Local #2 for over fifty years. Mr. Watters was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing, bowling, working in his yard. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the light of his life. Arnold was a thirty-second degree Mason and Shriner. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Battle of the Bulge where he earned two Purple Heart medals. Arnold is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anna L. (Cantrell) Watters of the home; children Sharon C. Magill-Jackson and husband Chris, Paul David Watters and wife Denise, James Arnold Watters and wife Michele; grandchildren Cindy, Doug, Tammy, Erin, Tim, Jimmy, Beth and Tom; great-grandchildren Dustin, Amy, Hannah, Evan, Colin and Maya; sisters Edna Burdine and husband Robert, Loydean Wilson and husband Ralph; niece Betty Ann Harrison and husband Bob. He was preceded in death by his brother Buster Waters; and sister Lura Gillespie.
