M. Leah Watterson

M. Leah Watterson, 85, Independence, MO. passed away July 10, 2005 at Independence Regional Health Center. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm, Sat., July 16, 2005 at Porter Chapel Cemetery, near Competition, MO. Visitation will be 5 - 8 pm, Friday, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1701 W. Lexington, Independence, MO. Leah was a fifteen-year Cancer Survivor so in lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650309 Dallas, TX 75262-0309. Leah was born July 17, 1919 in Laclede County, MO. She moved to Independence in 1941 and was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Independence. She was very active in her church where she was a member of the Adriel Sunday School Class, Missions in Action and the Livewires. Leah was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Watterson in 1995. She is survived by daughters Mary Thomas and Ann Wooten, both of Independence; granddaughters Sherry Keilman, Crown Point, IN; and Linda Weber, Independence; grandsons David Thomas, Independence; and Chris Wooten, Livingston TX; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
