Ona Belle (Monsees) Wear, 93, Independence, MO, passed away peacefully, Monday, September 13, 2004, at her home. She was surrounded by her loving family, as she was throughout her life. Services will be at 10:30 am, Thursday, September 16, 2004, at Speaks Suburban Chapel; burial in Floral Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 am Thursday at the chapel. Contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church. Mrs. Wear was born September 27, 1910, in Smithton, MO, to Rudolph and Christina Monsees. She moved to the Independence area and got her nursing degree in 1932. She married William H. Wear in 1933 and together they raised their two sons. Her career was her home and family. She loved being surrounded by beauty and took great pride in her flower garden and home. Mrs. Wear was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church where she attended regularly as long has health permitted. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Melford Monsees. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, William H. Wear, of the home; two sons, John D. Wear and his wife Marilyn, and William M. Wear and wife Sharon, all of Independence, MO; 4 grandchildren, Jill Esry and husband Bill, Amy Knipp and husband Eric, Dana Kelley and husband John, and Brent Wear; 7 great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends.
