Edgar Kenton (Ken) Webb, 84, of Independence, Mo., died October 28, 2018. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. November 1 at Bethel United Church of Christ, 4900 NE Parvin Rd., Kansas City, MO, with the memorial service at 11:00.
Ken was born in Neosho, MO, May 20, 1934, to Elmer Newton and Nora (Perkins) Webb. He grew up the son of a Baptist minister in southwest Missouri. He married Carolyn Williams in 1953. After graduating from High School in Butler, MO, he received an Associates degree from Southwest Baptist College, then later a BA from William Jewell College, an M.Div. from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO, and a D.Min. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.
He served as the pastor at Center Baptist in Ash Grove, MO, First Baptist, Polo, MO, Carlisle Ave. Baptist, Louisville, KY, First Baptist, Kirksville, MO, Bethel United Church of Christ, Kansas City, MO, and as the interim pastor at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Levasy, MO. Carolyn faithfully served alongside him at all of these pastorates. As a young man he was the director of finance for the St. Louis Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and served as the minister of music at Ballwin Baptist Church, St. Louis, MO.
Ken is survived by daughters Judith Webb, Jane Webb Childress and husband Kyle, son Jeffrey Webb and wife Barbara; one brother, Jerry Webb and wife Paula; four grandchildren, Emily and Callie Childress and Brady and Bailey Webb; and beloved companion Linda Pippinger. He was preceded in death by wife Carolyn Webb, one brother, Norman Webb, and two sisters, Lucille Osborne and Betty Martin.
