Steven was born in Kansas City to James and Diane (Schuck) Webb and has been a lifelong area resident. He proudly served in the US Army and worked as a laser operator and machinist for local manufacturing companies. Steven enjoyed working with steel, collected medieval weapons, was accomplished in jeet kune do martial arts inspired by Bruce Lee, was a skilled war game video gamer, enjoyed watching old westerns and Anime cartoons and participated in Shoal Creek Living History Museum reenactments with his daughter Kathryn. Maintaining and eventually beginning restoration on his 1965 Buick Skylark was also a decades long hobby.

Steven grew up in a large blended family as the fifth of seven sons in the home where, as the smallest, he first began to develop his ninja fighting skills. He is survived by his mother Diane and stepfather Ralph Nichols, siblings Michael and wife Becky, James and wife Marsha, Lance and wife Michelle, Christopher and wife Yvonne, Mark and wife Lori, halfbrother Tony and wife Darchele, halfsister Holly and stepmother Sylvia. He was preceeded in death by his father, younger brother John David and halfbrother-in-law, Mike. Steven adored and had a special connection to his many nieces and nephews.

Set-up by their teen-age children, Steven “the fun dad” married his wife Mary on Flagstaff Mountain in Colorado and expanded his household from three to seven for a large blended family of his own. Of the many things he created, his children were his proudest accomplishment. He is survived by his wife, Mary, son James and fiancé Charla and granddaughter due in July, son John David and wife Kaitlin, daughter Kathryn of the home, stepdaughter Cassidy and husband Josh, stepdaughter Jaimy and husband Kyle, granddaughter Danni and grandson Cooper. He was preceeded in death by his stepson Daniel.

Friends and acquaintances were drawn to Steven’s trustworthy spirit and quiet wisdom to seek his advice and opinions. He was a skilled listener who was generous with his time and laughter, gave without fanfare and loved without judgment.

Steven had a strong Christian faith and was a true warrior battling cancer with courage and the Templar’s Oath displayed prominently in his home:
Be without fear in the face of your enemies.
Stand brave and upright that the Lord may love thee.
Speak the truth always, even if it means your death.
Protect the helpless and do no wrong.

An enthusiastic survivalist, Steven was also a conservation advocate and was looking forward to ordering seedlings this fall from the Missouri Department of Conservation; https://mdc.mo.gov/trees-plants/tree-seedlings.

For those who choose, the family would be honored if donations were made in Steven’s name to a charity of your choice.
