Darlene Webber, 92, passed away on March 24, 2017.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Mar. 30, at 2:00 p.m., with visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m., both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. in Independence. Contributions may be made to Ivanhoe United Church of Christ in her honor.
Darlene was born on Dec. 29, 1924, in Mulberry, KS, the only child of John and Ruth (Payne) Charlton. She graduated from Liberal High School in the class of 1942. On June 10, 1944, she married Robert Webber, and to this union were born a son and daughter. She worked for Montgomery Ward for 20 years, starting as a clerk in their snack bar and working her way up to a position in their financial office.
Darlene and Robert enjoyed traveling the country in their camper. They visited Disneyworld, Las Vegas, Florida, Colorado, Mexico, and frequented Chicago to see the Webber family. She and Robert were also longtime members of Ivanhoe United Church of Christ.
Darlene is survived by her husband and best friend of 73 years, Robert; son, John Webber (wife, Sharon) and daughter, Shelia Fischer (husband, Dwight), all of Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren, Tony Webber (wife Lisa) of Columbia, MO, Lisa Markel (husband, Andy) of Blue Springs, MO, Michelle Latto (husband, Kenneth) of Paola, KS, and Adam Fischer (wife, Jackie) of Blue Springs, MO; and great-grandchildren, Jenaye, Annah, Madilyn, Drew, Mason, Troy, Logan, Chloe, Trent, and Brody.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
