James Douglas Weber, 90, Independence, MO, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013.
Jim was born on April 28, 1923, in Sedalia, MO, son of Harry and Mary (Boyle) Weber. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Jim retired in 1985 from Allis-Chalmers as a traffic manager. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Tribe of Mic’O’Say, and Christ United Methodist Church where he served on numerous committees. Jim enjoyed volunteering for the United Way, being outdoors, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include sons: Douglas Weber, Kirk Weber, David Weber and wife Alberta; daughter Susan Baum and husband Scott; grandchildren James Weber and wife Kelly, Anna Weber, Lauren Weber, Steven Baum and wife Brittney, Nathaniel Weber, Kevin Baum, and Karalyn Baum; great-grandson James Dutch Weber; sisters Mary Alice Weber and Margaret Fitzgerald; sister-in-law Merlin Weber, and additional nieces, nephews, and family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Weber, in 2009; brothers William and Charles Weber, brother-in-law Donald Fitzgerald, and his parents.
Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2013, at Christ United Methodist Church, 14506 E 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or the United Way.
