Regina J. "Jean" Weekes

Regina J. "Jean� Weekes, 78, of Independence, MO passed away on Friday, November 5th at Independence Regional Health Center. Memorial services will be 11:00 am Monday, November 8th at the First United Methodist Church, 400 W. Maple, Independence, MO. Officiating the service will be Rev. Alan Pruitt and Rev. Donice Heriford. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service from 10-11:00 at the church. Cremation. Lunch will be provided by the Good Samaritan Circle at the church following the service at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to the church. Regina was born September 7, 1926 in Reading, PA, the 13th child of Anna and Jerome Wojszwillo. She married Duane Weekes on August 26, 1944 and lived her adult life in the Kansas City area. Duane and Regina celebrated 60 years of marriage in August. Mrs. Weekes was a past president of the Ott Elementary School Parent Teachers Association, she was an active participant in the Teamster�s Local #41 Retirees Club. She was a former member of the Stoney Point Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, and a member of the Good Samaritan Circle and the Maritus Sunday School Class. Mrs. Weekes is survived by her husband Duane Weekes, Sr. of the home; son Duane Weekes, Jr. of Blue Springs, MO; daughter and son-in-law Donna Jeanne and Stephen Edwards of Kansas City, MO; sisters Cecelia Barber and Edith Gauker of Reading, PA; sister-in-law Helen Wojszwillo of Reading, PA; and Agatha of the home. She was preceded in death by her daughter Diana.
