Joseph Oliver Weeks, Sr.

Joseph Oliver Weeks, Sr. 75, of Independence Missouri, passed away Sunday March 19, 2006 at Independence Regional Hospital. Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 23 at 11:00 am at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence Missouri. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 22 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the chapel. Cremation. Joseph was born October 22, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was in the US Navy from 1948-1967 and then had several other jobs, finally retiring from Unity Village in 1992. Joseph met Bettye Louise Stanard in May of 1949 and married on January 22,1950. They were married for 56 wonderful years. Joseph was involved with his church for many years and he and Bettye were members of both the Englewood and Sterling Avenue RLDS congregations. Joe enjoyed gardening, his pets, and traveling with his wife Bettye across the country in their RV. Most of all he enjoyed his family. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Frank, son Timothy and daughter Cheryl. His survivors include three sisters, Mary-Louise Marmoy, Independence; Frances Worden, Independence; and Bertha Webb, Aliso Viejo, California. He is also survived by his wife Bettye of the home, son David also of the home, son and daughter-in-law Robin and Susan Weeks of Independence, son and daughter-in-law Don & Carol Weeks of Independence, and son and daughter-in-law Joseph Jr. and Lisa Weeks of Independence. Six grandchildren include Richard, April, Bryan, Brandi, Christopher, and Morgan, as well as nine great-grandchildren.
