Kenneth E. Weikal, a man of many talents, who you could find taking walks, reading history, gardening and listening to Classical and Ragtime music, played his last note on September 9, 2020. He was 87 years old.
Kenneth was born August 21, 1933 in LaMonte, MO to Fred W. and Julia M. Weikal. He attended High School at Knob Noster, MO, graduating in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. Kenneth graduated from Central Missouri State University in 1957, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics and Mathematics. While attending college, he obtained a private pilot license. He was employed with the Missouri Department of Transportation as a Construction Inspector for 34 years, retiring in 1991.
Kenneth married Virginia E. Painter on August 30, 1973, in Richmond, VA. He enjoyed doing things around the house, and was in possession of an ongoing honey-do-list! He is survived by the love of his life, Virginia E. Weikal; two daughters, Angela M. Hines (William “Scott”) and Linda Faye Stansell (Al); son, Stephen E. Weikal (Maryann); and seven grandchildren, Nickolas, Connor, Victoria, Cody, Johnathen, Brianna and Brayden; and two great grandchildren, Carmen and Skylar. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Julia Weikal; brother, Robert Weikal; niece, Shelia N. Weikal; nephew, Terry E. Weikal; and grandson, Caleb Hines.
A public visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions be made to Kenneth’s faith home, Eastgate Christian Church, Independence, MO.
