John Walter Weisbrod

John Weisbrod, 94, of Independence, MO, passed away on March 24, 2017. Visitation will be from 6-7 pm Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Graveside services with military honors will be 10 am Monday, March 27, at Floral Hills Cemetery. John was born on December 6, 1922, in North Little Rock, AR to Lewis and Mattie (Walker) Weisbrod. After serving his country during WWII in the Army Air Corp, John attended Arkansas Law School. In 1957 he went to work for the Corps of Engineers as an attorney, remaining with the Corps until his retirement in 1985. In 1958, he married Loretta Daugherty and they had two daughters. John was a long-time member of Norfleet Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 58 years Loretta Weisbrod; daughter Elizabeth Weisbrod and her husband Randall Holmes; daughter Amy Weisbrod and her husband Eric Wichern; grandchildren Sydney and Zoe Holmes and Alexander and Grace Wichern. John is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Pete and Gene Weisbrod. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Norfleet Baptist Church.
