Kathryn Marie Weitkemper (Leatherwood)

Kathryn Marie Weitkemper, 68 of Independence, MO passed away Friday, August 19, 2016 at her residence. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the chapel. Donations can be made to Preferred Family Healthcare for residents served in Jackson County Missouri. Kathryn was born February 11, 1948 in Oakland, CA to Baylor and Gloria (Camera) Leatherwood and spent most of her life in California before moving to Independence 9 years ago. She was a beloved wife, mother and homemaker who also assisted with her husband in their business, Rich Weitkemper Advertising. She enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises. She was Catholic by faith and had attended St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Survivors include: her husband, William “Rich” Weitkemper of the home; a daughter, Lisa Michelle Weitkemper of Kansas City, MO; a son, James Baylor Weitkemper of Kansas City, MO and her father, Baylor Leatherwood of Ukiah, CA.
