Betty F. Wells, 94, of Independence, MO passed away on Friday, November 19th at Rosewood Health Center at The Groves. Services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, November 23rd at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service from 9-10:00 am at the chapel. Graveside services will be 12:30 pm in Brown Cemetery in Gallatin, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Christian Church of Independence, or to the charity of your choice. Betty was born December 24, 1909 in Gallatin, MO to Henry F. and Helen (Dean) Whitt. Betty was a graduate of Gallatin High School and Central Business College in Kansas City. She was a resident of the Kansas City area all of her adult life, making her home at 1541 North Pleasant Street, for 65 years. Mrs. Wells, a career employee of the Federal Government, retired in 1966. She was a Human Resources Officer of the U.S. Army Records Center, and later of the Internal Revenue Service Center in Kansas City. A long time member and Elder of the First Christian Church of Independence, Betty is remembered for her years of faithful service to the church and for her strong dedication to family. She was loved and revered by her family and is survived by an extensive number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wells was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Wilbur W. Wells in 1970, and by 3 brothers and 6 sisters.
