Katherine B. Smith Newton Wells, 90, Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Friday, January 25, 2013. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the John Knox Village Chapel; 400 NW Murray (Murray & O’Brien), Lee’s Summit, MO 64081.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. at the John Knox Village Chapel. Entombment will follow at Mt. Washington Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the John Knox Village Care Center.
Katherine was born July 13, 1922 in Sugar Creek, MO the daughter of Edward and Dorothy (Alexander) Smith. She worked in home health care assisting families with day to day needs. Katherine was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the John Knox Village Church.
Survivors include her husband, Lyle Wells; son, Steve Newton; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, James Smith; and additional nieces, nephews and family. Katherine was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Farrand, and Evelyn Hollis; and her parents.
