Gary Wayne Welsh, 68 of Independence, MO passed away Friday, February 3, 2017 at Carmel Hills Living Center. Cremation is planned with a memorial gathering to be held from 4 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Donations may be made in his name to the charity of the donor’s choice. Gary was born November 6, 1948 in Independence, MO to Wayne and Rose (Barrett) Welsh and has been a lifelong area resident. He had worked as a draftsman most recently for Johnson Controls in Grandview, MO. He enjoyed studying military history, especially the Civil War, was an avid reader who also enjoyed trains, photography, leather work and building models. He was a member of the Beverly Hills Baptist Church. Survivors include; a brother, Larry Welsh and wife Susan of Independence, MO; 2 nieces, Kelly Snyder and husband Brian of Lee’s Summit, MO and Lindsay Verbick and husband David of St. Joseph, MO and 2 great nephews, Tyler Snyder and Ryder Verbick.
