Marilyn Welsh, 77, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E 39th St, Independence, MO 64055. Marilyn was one of seven children, born to Vida Cunningham (Hale) on December 3, 1941 in Kansas City, MO. Marilyn grew up in Independence, MO, attended William Chrisman High School and was a longtime member of the Church of Christ Mt. Zion Restoration Branch. Marilyn was known as a very kind, meek, and sensitive woman who was easy going and extremely intelligent. Her sons, Jon and Dean, remember her as a gentle and loving mother; that’s “who she was”. Marilyn never had an unkind word to say about anyone and she was always focused on others, specifically her sons, of whom she was very proud. Taking care of things was something she excelled at and she put those skills to good use with a house she rented out, which she loved maintaining. Marilyn also enjoyed socializing with her sister and other family members while hosting gettogethers and she loved shopping. Marilyn is survived by her sons, Jon (Pamela) Welsh and Dean Welsh; 10 grandchildren; sister, Barbara (John) Canaday; special nieces Beverly Pappageorge and Barbie (Alan) Sarratt; special cousin, John Cunningham; and several other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Vida Cunningham; and 5 siblings, Jack Cunningham, Lloyd Cunningham, Jerry Cunningham, Vance Cunningham, and Beverly Sarratt.
