Lydia M. (Leipard) Wendt, 89 passed away peacefully on Saturday morning June 22, 2019 at the John Knox Care Center. Lydia was born in Platte City, Mo on April 15, 1930 to Samuel A. Leipard and Hattie Lorene (Anderson) Leipard. Lydia grew up and went to school in Lee’s Summit, Mo. She was married to Don A. Wendt in 1956 and they had two sons David and Don Jr., and lived in New Jersey until 1969. The family returned to Lee’s Summit were Lydia was employed by Western Electric for 20 years. She also worked at the Hill Crest Country Golf Club until she retired. Lydia enjoyed bowling, golfing and bingo. She was a great mom to her sons and always there for her family and a hard-working independent woman who never complained. Through her faith she adapted to any situation life threw at her. She was an inspiration to her two sons and will be deeply missed. Lydia is survived by three brothers and three sisters, two sons, nieces and nephews, and four grandchildren.
