Eleanor Doris Wenger, a woman of faith, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 7, 2021. She was 98. Eleanor was born to Peter and Frances Berg on December 29, 1922 in Max, North Dakota. Eleanor grew up working on a farm before meeting the love of her life, Henry Wenger. They were married in 1945. While Henry was in the service Eleanor spent her time working as a Rosie Riveter during WWII in Seattle, Washington. These women would help to assemble the planes used in combat. After the war Eleanor and Henry settled down and began a family. She then became a homemaker and spent her days raising their five children. Eleanor loved to cook and was especially known for her baking. If you were a friend of hers, you were guaranteed a spot on her calendar and would receive a special cake on any occasion. Eleanor volunteered much of her time supporting her children thru PTA, Scouts and preparing meals in the school cafeteria. As she got older Eleanor enjoyed her time with her family, watching the Kansas City Royals play ball and enjoying a small glass of her favorite wine before bed every night. She never knew a stranger and will be missed dearly by all. She is survived by her sons, Gene and Wayne Wenger; daughters, Mary Hoff and husband Howard, Brenda Huddleston; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Henry and her son, Jefferey Wenger. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital. Due to COVID restrictions a private family service will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel. An interment will be at Mound Grove Cemetery in Independence, Mo.
