Laurence S. Werges

Laurence S. Werges, 91, of Independence, MO, passed away Friday, October 13, 2006 at Rosewood Health Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2006 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 2-4:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel, with burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Summit Grove Congregation, 411 S. Lee�s Summit Rd, Independence, MO 64055. Laurence was born January 22, 1915 in St. Olaf, IA to Sidney and Christiana (Sweely) Werges. Mr. Werges was a graduate of the University of Kansas and was a huge fan of the KU Jayhawk basketball team. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church attending the Summit Grove congregation. Laurence is survived by his wife of 59 years, Catherine (Mayer) Werges of the home; son Sid Werges and wife Mona; daughter Laurine Russell and husband Henry; grandchildren Jason and Jared Werges, Zach and Regan Russell; 3 great-grandchildren; brother Byron Werges and wife Phyllis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Kay Beck.
