Julia C Wescott, age 88, of Lee’s Summit, MO, went to be with her Lord on July 20th, 2018 at 8:05 am. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Wednesday at the chapel. Donations may be made in her name to Wayside Waifs or to Brookdale Hospice in Overland Park, KS. Julie was passionate about her Faith in Christ, family, and love of animals. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and as a young woman she loved to ride horses, spend time in nature, and even obtained her pilots license. She went on to become an accomplished painter, and art teacher after retiring from Kansas City Life Insurance. Julie is remembered for her infectious laugh, great love of chocolate, and quirky sense of humor. She is preceded in death by her parents Merton T. Straight and Chloris P. (Waterbury) Colflesh; step-father Robert Colflesh, brother Frank Straight and his wife Jean Straight, sister Francis Hamilton, and beloved grandson Jacob Gormly. She is survived by her sister Martha McMahon, her three daughters, Pat and Laura O’Donnell, Gary and Virginia Geib, and Jim and Dana Beery; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
