Mary Margaret West
Mary Margaret (Gannon) West 82 died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at Maywood Terrace Living Center, Independence, MO. Services 11:00 am Saturday, June 21, 2003 at George C. Carson & Sons Funeral Home with visitation 7-8:30 pm Friday at the funeral home. Burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be given to Mt. Washington Baptist Church Missions Fund. Mrs. West was born August 21, 1920 in Cameron, MO to Charles and Cora (Nelson) Gannon. She started teaching school at age seventeen and taught for six years. She was married December 24, 1941 to Claude West and moved to Sugar Creek, MO in 1946. While raising her children, she volunteered her time in school activities and served as PTA President for a number of years. After her children were raised she worked for approximately 25 years in the Kansas City School Food Services as a cook and cafeteria manager. She was very committed in church activities at Mt. Washington Baptist Church where she was a member and active worker for over 50 years, serving and using her talents in many capacities. Her survivors include her husband of 61 years, Claude of the home; one daughter and her spouse Mary Kathryn and Mike Green of Richmond, MO; two sons, and their spouses; Gary and Terri West of Janesville, WI; Charles and Glenna West of Indep, MO; six grandchildren and their spouses and seven great-grandchildren: Michael & Lesley Green (Amber, Mikayla); Jesse & Michelle Woods (Nathan, Nicholas); Kim Lynch; Alex & Pam West; Jeremy West (Jacob); Matt & Amy Wiley (Carter, Keaton); nieces, nephews and friends
