DAVID JAMES WHEELER
David Wheeler, 94, Independence, MO passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017. David was born January 3, 1923 in Grand Rapids, MI to Paul and Luella (Kinney) Wheeler. David was baptized into Jesus Christ (Romans 6:3) and was faithful throughout his life to Him in the Church restored to the earth in 1830. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1940. During WWII, David served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He completed radio technology school and worked for Delta Airlines as a radio operator. He also had employment in Tulsa, OK at a radio station. From 1953-1985 David worked for KMBC-TV, Channel 9, in Kansas City. David married Manon Yahnig, the love of his life, in Carson City, NV on September 27, 1946. They enjoyed almost 68 years of marriage together. David was ordained a Deacon, Priest, and Elder in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. David also served as Bishop’s Agent at Spring Branch Congregation for 15 years. David served as part of the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. David was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary June Hubbard, and wife Manon. Survivors include sons Gary and James Wheeler; daughter Karen Manon Brown (Dennis); grandchildren Isaac Wheeler, Becca Wheeler, James Wheeler (Bree), Jared Wheeler, Matthew Brown (Angelika), Aaron Brown (Kelda), great-grandchildren Karlee, Karter, Jackson, Dakota, and Saylor Manon. David welcomed numerous friends into their home that became family. Among them, Chalia Castillo Moreira and Plutarco from Honduras and their children David, Melisa, and Julie. A visitation will be on Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 12-1pm at Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO, 64052. A service will follow at 1pm. Interment will take place at Mound Grove Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 700 W.
