Evelyn Whisler

Evelyn H. Whisler, 89, Liberty, MO, died Nov. 16, 2007 at Ashton Court Care Center. Services will be 2:30 pm, Tuesday, Nov. 20 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; interment at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Evelyn was born Nov. 4, 1918 in Oak Grove, MO. She grew up in the Independence area. She and her husband, W.C. “Buster” Whisler owned and operated Liberty Bend Auto Parts in Liberty from 1957 until 1972. They were also some of the original owners of I-70 Speedway in Odessa, MO. Evelyn loved to travel and particularly enjoyed the beach, but the joy of her life was her family.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband W.C. “Buster” Whisler; grandson Timmie Whisler; and sister Helen Parker. She is survived by son Freddie Whisler and wife Judee, Independence, MO; daughter Sally Cecil and husband Jack, Liberty, MO; sisters Maxine Petralie, Kearney, MO; Jackie Shearer and husband Charles, Smithville, MO; grandchildren Mark Cecil, Mike Cecil, Nettie Klestinske, Tammie Gulley, Tiffanie Bevan; and ten great-grandchildren.
