Avis Alene White, 100 of Pleasant Hill, MO passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at the home of her daughter Ruth Bressman. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 17, 2007 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made to Outreach International. Avis was born January 23, 1907 in the Oklahoma Territory near May, OK to Francis Marion and Josie May (Blakesley) Hancock and was raised in Lamoni, IA. She was a member of the Community of Christ church for over 91 years. She was married on June 14, 1925 to Vernon O. White and they lived many years in Independence, MO before moving to Fontana, KS and later Lone Jack, MO; Vernon passed away on August 20, 1999. She is survived by 156 family members that include; a son, Roger Allen White and his wife Judith of Independence, MO; 3 daughters Ruth Alene Bressman and her husband Henry of Pleasant Hill, MO. Wathena Carol Armstrong of Independence, MO, Janice Evelyn Jordison of Leon, IA; a daughter- in-law, Betty White of Pittsburg, MO; a foster daughter-in-law Alice Webster of Lancaster, CA; 25 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren and 31 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Eleanor Gene White; a son, Robert Keith White; 2 sisters, Velma Sallee and Nelda Lee Hancock; a brother, Cyril Wayne Hancock; 2 sons-in-law, Clinton Armstrong and Merle Jordison; a foster son, Edgar Harrison Webster; a grandson, Russell Bressman; a great grandson Zechariah Armstrong and twin great grandsons, Matthew and Kyle Andersen.
