E. Murlene “Tess” Whitley, 83, of Independence, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Blue Springs.
Graveside service will be at 11:30 AM, on Monday, October 21, 2013, at Mount Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 AM, on Monday, October 21, 2013, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO 64052.
She was born on June 20, 1930, Mount View, Oklahoma, the daughter of Robert and Mary Frances (Penny) Lundsford. She was a member of the Susquehanna Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Joe Whitley, Independence; and Patrick Whitley and his wife Patsy, Polo; four grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy, David and Daniel; five great-grandchildren, Alex, Elizabeth, Jessica, David and Adam; one sister, Beulah Anderson, Oklahoma City, OK.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Murle “Joe” and five siblings.
