Gilbert Boyd Whitlock, of Independence, MO, passed Wed. May 26, 2004 at Blue Springs Care Center. Services will be 2:00 pm, Wed. Jun 2, 2004 Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be held from 7 - 8:30 pm, Tuesday at the Chapel, with a Masonic service being held at 7:30 pm. Contributions are suggested to the Shiner�s Children�s Hospital. Mr. Whitlock was born on May 26, 1932 in Canton, KS to Boyd and Bertha Whitlock. He had been a Fire Chief and Pipe fitter for Amoco Oil Company in Salt Lake City, UT retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Sugar Creek Eagles Club # 3717. The Council Grove�s (KS) Masonic Lodge # 36 for 51 years, the Ararat Temple, and the Jackson County Shrine Club, where he had been the Incoming Director for many years. He was an honorary Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-0-Say at H. Roe Bartle and had been very active in the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Whitlock was also was a member of the First Christian Church of Independence, where he had served on various committees and offices. Mr. Whitlock was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Bertha (Schmidt) Whitlock and a sister, Louise Pattisen. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bernita "Bea� Whitlock of Independence. Three sons, William Scott Whitlock of Independence, Darrell Lee Whitlock and wife Donata of Liberty, MO and David Russell Whitlock of Blue Springs, MO. A brother, Stuart Whitlock of Baltimore, MD. A sister, Helen Becerra of Rittman, OH. Four grandchildren, Melissa, Melody, Nicole and Nathan. Five great grandchildren, Haley, Christopher, Caleb, Sierra and Sequoyah.
