Margaret Shelton Whitworth, 95, Independence, MO passed away Thursday, June 23, 2005 at her residence. The visitation will be held from 10-11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 27, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The service will follow at 11:00 a.m in the chapel. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday at the Unionville Cemetery, Unionville, MO. Contributions may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church of Independence or Kansas City Hospice. Margaret was born August 28, 1909 in Unionville, MO. to William A. Shelton and Alice Coons Shelton. She married Maurice Whitworth, August 19, 1945. Margaret retired in 1975 from teaching 5th grade at Ott School in Independence, MO. She was a member of P.E.O. for 78 years, member of Chapter IQ, past president of P.E.O., Reciprocity of Greater Kansas City, Retired Teachers, Ellswood Meadow Garden Club, Salvation Army�s Women�s auxiliary, Kappa Delta Pi Honorary Education Fraternity, and Coordinator of International Relations for the Shepherd Center of Independence. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice in December of 1980. She is survived by her nephew Ronald Keith and his family of Frontenac, KS., who along with good friends provided for her care and support. Other survivors include; sister-in-law Maurine Keith, Baxter Springs, KS., nephew Sentiny W. Keith and family, San Angelo, TX., niece Nona Gardner and family, Lapeer, MI.
