Johnny Wicklin, 75, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 23rd at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will be at Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence, MO.
Johnny was born September 16, 1939 in Independence, MO as one of four children to Harry and Georgia Wicklin. As an adult he was a business partner with his brother, “Buddy,” owning Bud’s Foundation for over 30 years. After retirement, he helped with running errands in his son’s business, GSJ Trucking and Excavating, for the last 16 years. Johnny married his beloved Shirley on September 17, 1964. His wife was his best friend. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #76 and Eagle’s Club 3717 of Sugar Creek. He enjoyed drinking beer, four wheeling with his grandson, other family and friends; and keeping everyone happy with a good time. He is remembered as a family man who was rowdy, ornery, hardworking, and most importantly loveable. Johnny never knew a stranger and he will be missed by everyone.
He leaves behind wife of 50 years, Shirley of the home; sons, Shaun Wicklin (fiancé Jessica); and Jim Stubler all of Independence, MO; grandson, Gage Wicklin; special patio friend, Mary Clark; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Harry “Buddy” Wicklin, Virginia Baker, and Genevive “Tupie” Small; and a son, John K Wicklin, II.
