Shirley Ann Wicklin, 72 of Independence, MO passed away, Monday, March 7, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospice House. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Burial will follow in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m., until service time Friday at the chapel. Donations may be made in her name to St. Luke’s Hospice House 3516 Summit St., Kansas City, MO 64111. Shirley was born March 18, 1943 in Kansas City, Mo to Frank and Gertrude (Heddrick) Thomas and has been a lifelong area resident. She then took over office duties for her son’s trucking company, GSJ Trucking. She had worked as an order filler for Montgomery Wards and later for Sears Roebuck & Company until she retired in 1996. She was a beloved and fun loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed going to the casino’s with her sister, Betty and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Eagle’s Lodge #3717 in Sugar Creek. She is survived by; a son, Shaun Wicklin and fiancé Jessica of Independence, MO; a grandson, Gage Wicklin; 2 sisters, Gladys Orcutt of Oak Grove, MO and Betty Taylor of Bellingham, MA and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Wicklin in 2014, a son, John Wicklin II in 1974 and 5 brothers and sisters.
