Betty Jean Wilckens, 77, of Kansas City, MO passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021. A visitation will be held from 10-11am on Thursday, November 18th with a service following at 11am, both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church; 17200 E 39th St. S.; Independence, MO 64055. Interment will follow at Higginsville City Cemetery.
Betty was born on December 7, 1943, to Clamance and Viola (Aversman) Harms. She graduated from Higginsville High School in 1961 and married her beloved husband Raymond Roy Wilckens that same year. Betty served as a Jackson County Court Clerk for over 30 years. She was also a long-time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Independence.
She enjoyed quilting and embroidering; loved peacocks, hummingbirds, Elvis and most recently, Kansas City football thanks to Patrick Mahomes.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Raymond; her parents; and her brother, Richard Harms.
She is survived by her loving sons Dan (Tammy) Wilckens of Grain Valley, MO and Scott Wilckens of Harper Woods, MI; her grandchildren, Stephen (Naomi) Wilckens, Kyle (Britt) Stockwell-Wilckens, and Kishna (Chris) Rodgers; great-grandchildren, Nikki Wilckens, Jett Wilckens, Gianna Wilckens, Lily Tindle, Coner Tindle, Logan Rodgers, and Noni Rodgers; her brother, David (Janice) Harms of Houston, TX; as well as her beloved Rat Terrier, Sassy.
