Eleanor Moody, 99, of Independence, MO, died Sunday, December 23rd, 2012. Visitation will be held from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. Friday, December 28th at Carson Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave Independence MO. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday December 29th at the chapel. Burial will be at Bates City Cemetery.
Eleanor was born April 2nd 1913 in Hamilton, MO. She was one of five children to Frank and Maude Mae (Till) Dole. Raised on the family farm she attended the local New York School receiving an eighth grade education. Later she married her first husband and after his early death raised their three children. Eleanor was a long time member of Fairmount Christian Church and enjoyed playing bells for services. She worked hard for her daughters, cleaning house, working grocery stores, and retired from her long time job at Montgomery Wards in 1969. Eleanor owned three farms including the Pineberry Christmas Tree and Strawberry Farm. She was an avid gardener, quilter, and domino player. She is loved and will be greatly missed by her family.
Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Beverly Bragaw and husband John of Odessa, MO; Dolores Spicer of Odessa, MO; and Mary Howland and husband Eugene of Rocky Mount, MO; nine grandchildren, Holly Nowaczyk, Teddi Bryan, Lonnie Hollingsworth, Richard Rice, Donna Still, John Rice, Dana Norman, Sam Rice, and Michael Fogle; fifteen great grandchildren; and eighteen great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four husbands, her siblings, and two stepsons, Robert M. and Roy Bill Wilcox.
