William E. “Bill” Frerking, 73, entered into eternity on February 9, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, colleague and friend.
Bill was born to Herbert J. Frerking, Sr. and Mary C. Frerking on January 25, 1952, at Warrensburg Medical Center. He was the youngest of four children.
After graduating from La Monte High School in 1970, Bill went on to State Fair Community College and earned his Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT) Certificate in 1972.
From his marriages, he had three children: Stephanie, Preston and Ashley. He dedicated and sacrificed every ounce of his life for his children.
Serving over 45 years as a Respiratory Therapist, Bill served his community with compassion by saving countless lives and taking care of others. He spent those years at Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia, MO; Medical Center of Independence (MCI) in Independence MO; Lincare Home Care in Blue Springs, MO; and St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO, from which he retired in February 2017.
Bill loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. He believed humor was a way to make any situation better. He was always the life of the party. He was no stranger to lending his vocal ability for all to hear or cutting a rug on the dance floor. Bill loved to dance and would often go out with coworkers and family in various stages of his life and showcase his moves. He had a highly diverse taste in music and shared that with his children, coworkers, and friends. His favorite genres and songs will continue to be passed down for generations.
Bill had many passions including antique collecting and tending to his beloved orchids and roses. He also loved to cook and bake, although he was usually very critical of his own cooking. Some of his cherished creations are goulash, spaghetti, smothered pork chops, and tomato macaroni which remain family staples.
Bill was lucky enough to win a grand prize trip to London from a radio contest. He also enjoyed making memories on family vacations to Branson, Colorado, Disney World, Myrtle Beach and New Orleans. All of which included many other states along the way.
You always knew when Bill was near, as his cologne would fill the room and wrap you in a warm hug. His broad array of fragrances made those around him smile happily and feel at ease.
He was very meticulous about the way his hair looked and took pride in making an appearance. He carried that talent into helping with his daughters’ hair while they were young. Later in life, his daughter Stephanie returned the favor and became his hairstylist.
In his free time, he would read Dean Koontz books or watch some of his favorite movies which included Young Frankenstein and Popeye. Some of his most favorite pastimes were fishing and spending time driving around and relaxing at the lake.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; Herb Sr. and Mary Frerking; grandchildren Arianna, Brendon, Cullen, and Desiree Spiers; and niece Nikey Sistrunk Buck.
He is survived by his children; Stephanie Spiers (Frerking), Preston (Shauna) Frerking, and Ashley Frerking; grandchildren Roman and Victoria Spiers, and Maddox Frerking; siblings Fern (Johnny) Giandelone, Ann (Tom) McCown, Herbert Jr. (Pat) Frerking; three nephews, seven nieces, and many other extended family members and friends.
