Audrey Doreen Williams (Ireland)

Audrey Doreen Williams passed away peacefully April 15, 2017 at Wilshire Nursing Home in Lee’s Summit. She was predeceased by her husband, Claude Williams; her parents, Frank and Tammy Ireland; her brother, Clayton Ireland; sister, Margaret Carson and a number of nieces and nephews. Audrey was born on March 14, 1929 to Frank and Tammy Ireland in Colgate, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was the third child in a family of four children. Audrey had two sisters, Margaret and Gladys and one brother, Clayton. It was a close knit family built on the teachings of the church and a strong work ethic. Audrey attended school in Colgate, Saskatchewan where she graduated. After graduation Audrey attended Commercial School in Weyburn, Saskatchewan where she learned secretarial skills. Audrey was employed at Armots Jewelry store in Weyburn. She met her husband, Claude, at church and they married on September 30, 1951. The couple had three children Donna, Kenneth and Terry. In 1959 Audrey and her husband, Claude, moved their family to Independence, MO, the World Headquarters of their church. After moving to Independence Audrey was a stay-at-home mom and babysat children. When her youngest child was in the second grade Audrey became employed by the Independence School Districts Food Service where she worked until she retired in 1991. Audrey’s passion was her family and she spent much time cooking, cleaning and caring for her family and friends. Audrey looked forward to her yearly visits to her hometown. She enjoyed time spent with her parents, brother and sisters and extended family. Audrey was a dedicated member of the Community of Christ Stone Church and enjoyed meeting on a weekly basis creating crafts for the annual Williamsburg Festival. In her later years Audrey looked forward to delivering “meals on wheels” with her dear friends. Audrey loved to laugh and have fun. She enjoyed dancing with her husband and in her younger years enjoyed singing on the local radio station with her siblings. Audrey was a member of The Laurel Club. Audrey will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Donna (Randy) Siegel son, Kenneth (Kelly) Williams, son, Terry (Stephanie) Williams, grandson, Christopher Siegel and his children, Angelina and Christopher, and granddaughter, Megan Williams; her sister, Gladys (Melvin) Naught as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 10 AM at Stone Church, 1012 W. Lexington, Independence, MO with Bishop, Ray McClaran and High Priest, Larry Crozier presiding. Private Interment at Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence. In leiu of flowers the family suggestions donations to “Tennies for Kids/Community Services League of Independence” or the Stone Church endowment fund.
